Hot Pink is one of the most thrilling new tracks I’ve heard in 2018. Tying the threads of the embryonic pop sound that the young Norfolk duo established on their 2016 debut, I Gemini, with that of the increasingly influential PC Music movement (Hot Pink is produced by label trailblazer Sophie), the track buzz’s and broods in the ear.
Beats lifted directly from HEALTH’s playbook provide a chaotic momentum, vocals and spoken word elements deliver an aspartame-sweet-sickliness, as synths rise and fall with the softness of the ocean. Its energy is life-affirming, making Let’s Eat Grandma a vital proposition going forward.
