Fantasy Premier League Tips: October 2014

Kevin Lawson October 14, 2014

Given how bad my advice in choosing Man United attackers, James Ward-Prowse, Erik Lamela and Alexis Sanchez was last month, I’m surprised I’m mustering up enough confidence to share my opinions about what I think will happen in coming month of the EPL season. I’m holding onto the fact that early season results this year have been a little all over the place and my own trauma about Alan Pardew still managing Newcastle United. That aside here are my tips for the next months worth of gameweeks.

Papiss Cisse

Newcastle may have endured an awful start to the season but none of their woes can be pinned on Senegal Striker Papiss Cisse. The striker who spent the first few weeks of the new season recovering from a broken kneecap is starting to show the sort of form which saw him score 13 goals in his first half-season in the EPL. With NUFC playing Leicester and Spurs, I fancy him to grab three goals.

Saido Berahino

Playing as a lone striker for an improving WBA team Berahino has already bagged 5 goals this season and is in the sort of form that will see him become a prime target for a number of EPL teams looking to improve their options up front (I’m looking at you Spurs). With a couple of home games against Man United’s leaky defence and Crystal Palace, I’d think there will be a lot of takers for his £5.5m price tag.

Southampton Defenders

Despite wholesale changes to their squad Southampton have been truly excellent in the first few games of the season and have been performing well above most pundits expectations. With their next four against Sunderland (H), Stoke (H), Hull (A) and Leicester (H) you have to fancy the Saints back-line to add a couple of clean sheets to their season.
